I am getting this message when I try to get this module to work on my new testbed install of 4.7:
"You are not running an Apache server. This module only supports Apache servers."
The server is running Apache 2.2.19 according to info in my cpanel.

Tried your suggestion but the problem remains. I have checked with the eukhosts and mod_rewrite is enabled. Will the ht_access file need to be modified?

It seems that the problem is with the hosting. Rather than explain, I will post the relevant part of the transcript of my chat with eukhosts tech support:
Sarina: The server on which the domain is hosted already supportts mod_rewrite
mike: Yes, thanks, I established that already, which is why I was wondering if the code in seo.admin.php could be broken. Are you able to help debug the problem?
Sarina: I apologize for th problem faced.
Sarina: I would request you to place us ane amil in this regards Sarina: As the file seo.url.php is detected as malware by the server and being qurantine Sarina: Our senior admin will correct this for you
mike: ok, which email address should I send the request to?
Sarina: support@eukhost.com
mike: So the problem could be in the name of the file? Are all files with seo and .php quaranteened?
Sarina: Yes.
mike: ok thanks. I will see if the file can be re-named.
Sarina: The functions in the file are a problm. Sarina:
mike: so renaming would not help?
Sarina: No
mike: OK, I will send an email to see if this can be resolved.
I have emailed a support request and will let you know the outcome.

I have been working on serwer with similiar problem. And I have remowed some code from seo module files.
http://pluck.ekyo.pl/downloads/seo2rev.tar.gz
You can try to backup your orginal module files, and replace it with this code (files from url).

Thanks, but it does not install although the message appears that it installed ok. I tried untarring it on my desktop to have a look at the contents, but got this message:
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
*Edit: Just noticed that after installing, the files seo.php and seo.admin php had appeared in /data/modules but there is no seo directory.....

Dont install it. Its only 2 files from module.
I had this error some day. Try to use 7-zip. He helped me.

I was just editing my post when you posted. It looks like the server was able to extract the files into /data/modules, so I can get the files from there.
Also, Eukhosts are looking into the problem.

OK, if anyone else has this problem and is not being able to extract the contents, I can confirm that installing it did actually extract the files for me and put them into /data/modules, so I just moved them into /data/modules/seo to replace the originals, and now the module is working perfectly. Thanks very much for this a_bach. I now have a live site with mod_rewrite working.
.
Eukhosts seemed very keen to sort out the problem for me but did not come back with any answers. I am curious to know what was causing the problem though.
