4.7 menu and module requests

Just using the most recent build of 4.7 here and thought i should post some feedback from aspects of the CMS which effect functionality and usability.

Firstly the sub menu systems are great, although it does mean that sometimes when you're creating a website you dont actually need the first  'holder' page that you're required to create. Would it be possible to have a tick box in the Edit page / SEO page options which could leave the page as a blank link in the menu? I hope that makes sense. In effect you'd be making the parent page into a folder, rather than a live page.

Secondly, the menu could do with a parent-active id for the parent 'holder' menu item, so if i a sub page is active, it has its parent menu page highlighted too. This is for useability purposes - it can be unclear where you are on a large website if you dont have this feature to help focus attention.

I'll update this post as i find more bits and bobs. Anyways, those are useability CMS related bits, below is album module musings.

Although not really a request but something i'm curious about - the albums module is great, although in many cases when making a website you dont actually need multiple albums, you only need a single gallery. So the multi-level album page is a bit of an eyesore. Is there any way to allow a page to include a specific gallery only, maybe as a sub-option of selecting the Album module in the first place? This would increase the album modules usability 10-fold.

Also on the album image upload, you could do with a dimensions option next to the quality option. I've done this in very tacky way myself by changing the gallery size code to

$image_width = $cont4;

and then adding this field to the edit album code.

	<select name="cont4">
	<option value="180">180 x 50</option>
	<option value="300">300 x 250</option>
	<option value="640">640 x 400</option>
	<option value="800">800 x 640</option>
	</select>

it works more or less perfectly. I thought it would be useful to add to the albums module in the next lanuchpad update if you liked the idea. Theres also the potential of having a text field underneith the select field with a custom value option, which could be useful as well.

Just ideas, hope they're useful

- Ant

Re: 4.7 menu and module requests

An alternative to having parent pages acting as a folder as jsut a blank parent menu item - a Module which would create a list of sub pages to any page it was added too, would work too, this would be quite good for SEO as well. It could be added to the parent page and at least thats better than having a blank page without a purpose
